Health & Sports Fitness Centre Announces New Policies for Level 2 Restrictions

Health & Sports Fitness Centre are open under Level 2, and you can go to their website at www.healthandsports.co.nz/latest-updates for the full rundown of what you may need to know. 

The group fitness timetable remains the same; however, they have made a few changes. Classes in the group fitness studio are limited to 32 people. Tags will be available at reception so grab one to secure your spot. Cycle classes will be limited to 15 people, grab a tag from reception as normal. All equipment is cleaned consistently with Zoono sanitiser, and they have provided wipes and a strong antibacterial disinfectant for you to use, and encourage you to wipe the equipment before and after you use it. 

The pool is open and swimming lessons recommenced on Monday 31 AugustChild minding also opened on Monday 31 August. There is an online booking system and bookings must be made online. Regarding showers, the bathrooms have been marked with tape for social distancing, but please bring your own towel. Similarly, yoga mats have been removed since the last lockdown. 

All members must swipe in, no exceptions, and the Health & Sports Fitness Centre team are keeping a log at reception, plus they will carry out frequent head counts and communicate via walkie talkies. You can still use the cardio machines; however every second machine has been disabled to allow proper distancing. Please remember to bring your own full drink bottle, or purchase refreshments from the café, as the drinking fountains are closed. Please note the sauna is closed during Level 2. 

 As during any Level of the pandemic, if you are unwell or showing any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay at home. COVID-19 symptoms include: cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, high temperature (at least 38°C), sneezing and runny nose, temporary loss of smell. Also, if you have mislaid your key, you should swipe in at reception, and they will give you a new one. Overall, Health and Sports Fitness Centre is able to accurately track the capacity of the gym due to the use of member swipe tags, and the establishment is maintaining a log of visitors, and swiping in is currently a requirement for entry.
